Limited edition Agoureleo is here!

by Cristiana Sadidigianis

It's back! Our limited edition, unfiltered Agoureleo oil is our freshest and most special bottle of the year, the result of the very first pressing of Koroneiki variey olives during early harvest. I traveled to Sitia, a region in the eastern part of the island of Crete recognized by UNESCO for its unique biodiversity, to collaborate with a small family-run olive farm on this year's edition.

Sitia oil has Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) status, which means that it is made in a specific geographical area and has unique characteristics directly linked to the soil and climate of the area. This region in particular is one of the most celebrated olive oil-producing territories in the world. Since the Minoan era, almost 5000 years ago, the extended sunshine, the mountainous grounds and rich soils of Crete, have provided a unique microclimate for the cultivation of olive trees.

The farm Oracle chose to work with is dedicated to sustainable practices, using no irrigation and minimal pruning. Their groves are cared for organically, without the use of chemical fertilizers, pesticides and herbicides.

Early pressings of green fruit produce extra virgin olive oils with very high levels of antioxidants, polyphenols, and vitamin E, and our bottle tastes bright and bitter, with a hint of toasted walnut – I take a spoonful of verdant, nourishing Agoureleo every morning!

In honor of this edition’s origins, we are excited to present our first collaboration with Greek artist Christina Mandilari, who has illustrated these small-batch bottles with a Minoan woman, and representations of the divine feminine and the sea & land of Crete.
